People’s Democratic Party PDP candidate Mr John Gabaya has been declared winner of the Chairmanship election in Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory FCT.


Returning Officer for Chairmanship Election in Bwari Professor Amuche Madu declared Mr Gabaya, the incumbent chairman, who polled 13045 to defeat his closest rival Mr Haruna Shekwolo of All Progressives Congress APC who scored 7697.

Gabaya was then returned elected having met the requirements of the Constitution and the electoral law.

Alhaji Abubakar Jibrin Giri of APC – 11,125;

Mohammed Kasim Ikwa of PDP – 9,597

The incumbent Chairman, Suleiman Sabo PDP gathered a total of 13,301

Sarki Hamidu of the APC – 7,694

Also, PDP has been declared the winner of the just concluded chairmanship election for Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC).

Christopher Zakka (Maikalangu) of the PDP defeated his closest rival, Murtala Karshi (Yamarayi) of the All Progressive Congress (APC), and 10 others, to win the election.

Mr Zakka polled 19,302 votes while Mr Karshi secured 13,249 votes.

AMAC, arguably the most cosmopolitan of the six area councils in Abuja, has 12 wards and includes the city centre of the Nigerian capital.’

The PDP won in 10 wards while the APC won in only two.

The results for AMAC were officially declared by the INEC Returning Officer, Sani Saka.

Radio Nigeria that the Saturday elections were held across the 68 wards / constituencies spread across Bwari, Abaji, Gwagwalada, Kuje, Kwali and Abuja Municipal Council (AMAC) area councils of the FCT.

A total of 473 candidates sponsored by 14 political parties took part in the elections.

the election was free and fair according to voters.
